Syria in Shambles

Syria continues to lead headlines in the international and domestic news with a raging conflict that is tearing the nation apart. The civil war that is plaguing Syria does not discriminate in who it affects, newest statistics show that over 1,000 children have been killed or injured in 2018 already. The numbers of deceased, injured, and displaced refugees is astonishing and civilians continue to call out for help from the international community without answer. A strong sense has fallen over the people of Syria that the world has given up on them and is not supporting them in a time of major need. Constant bombing, missile strikes, and mortar shelling is a terrifying reality civilians are living in day after day with no cease in sight. Monday March 5th the United Nations attempted to deliver aid in a convoy of 46 trucks to Eastern Ghouta, unfortunately the convoy was forced to retreat early due to a barrage of shelling. There is little hope for the people of Syria right now, it is the responsibility of the international community to cry out for intervention and aid to the people of Syria.

  1. Hearing this everyday and that the situation has not gotten better is horrible. Everyone who hears and sees videos/pictures is horrified and wants to help. Why is it that we as people would be more willing to help them than the international community/government. Hopefully they realize that they need to help them immediately and get the people of Syria feeling safe again.

  2. I was very sad while reading this blog post. It is heartbreaking to see and hear about children who are getting severely hurt and dying due to constant bombing and missile strikes that are happening over in Syria. I am hoping that the government is trying their best to stop this nonsense and to start keeping the children of Syria safe.

  3. Wow, what a tragic story. It is sad to think that humans will react this way towards each other. The image protrayed in the article speaks volumes to me. It is so sad to think that when war decisions are made, that the lives of innocent people are being disrupted.

  4. Difficult to fathom are the rebel factions who are trying to hold onto sections of Syria while the US and Russia and ISIS also fight for and 'negotiate' regions of the country on behalf of government forces in Syria. In the meantime, ordinary citizens are being bused from their homes as the cities come to a standstill. Here is a report from Al Jazeera today, 25 March: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2018/03/eastern-ghouta-evacuations-thousands-bused-idlib-180325094113482.html
