Middle East Arms Trade

The arms trade is bringing drama from all sides into Syria and other countries near by, making it difficult to try and resolve any issues. The buying and selling of arms to other states has increased quickly. The Trudeau government went along with the sale of $15 million Canadian dollars of military equipment to Saudi Arabia in 2015. The Canadian company general dynamics land systems Canada was allowed export licenses. Saudi Arabia has been thought of a state endorser of panic because of the repression of politics at home and killing insurgents and towns people alike in the war next to Yemen.

However, Canada has also funded the Kurdish Peshmerga with arms so that they can against ISIS in Iraq. Although, the Canadian government is much more vigilant when it comes to this because they worry about war crimes being committed. The Russian arms industry has also made good profits from the war. Previous communist countries have sold billions of dollars worth of weapons the the Western allies.

  1. I've never heard much about Canada's involvement in the Middle East, so it was interesting to learn about their part in the arms trade.

  3. I had no idea that Canada was involved either! I always think of Canada as a peaceful place where only fishing and hunting happens. Cool to hear that they are supporting a cause they think is right.
